Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian artist and singer. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. Her songs are classified by the label as alternative and folk. They also incorporate elements of hip-hop, jazz, and punk. Ani DiFranco is widely recognized as a feminist icon, and Grammy-winning artist is considered to be the first creator of DIY music. It was one of the very first musicians to establish the label she created in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian descent as was her mother born in Montreal. Her song 32 Flavors was composed by her, and performed by Ani. The song was featured on her 5th studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. This track appears on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized to host a seminar in Louisiana on an old plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, however, she did not express any regret. DiFranco released a new apology several days after. Although known as Little Peoplesinger, she has collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. New Orleans is her home.
